Hi! My name is Bob and I teach photography! Your camera has an Auto function on it, but the best the camera can do is guess, and it will never give you better than mediocre results. So you do need to move to manual control. But just as most of us cannot move from seat 23A into the pilot seat of an airliner and expect to fly, you cannot start shooting on manual simply by turning the knob to “M.” Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your skills to the next level, I make sure you have an adequate foundation. I teach you the basics of photography and provide building blocks to enhance your skills, allowing you to continually expand your knowledge and achieve endless growth as a photographer.
I founded EyeSo100 to teach photography in a new way. Born out of my Facebook group, Nikon Teaching Photography which grew to over 12,000 members, I started EyeSo100 to continue to offer new and greater offerings to Nikon photographers.
I’ve been shooting Nikon DSLRs for over 17 years and now shoot Nikon mirrorless as well. An Engineer by trade, I have designed computer based automated quality control systems into multimillion dollar Aerospace manufacturing systems, using off the shelf Nikons, while working with the engineers at NikonUK and NikonUSA.
Over a decade ago we lost our Standard Poodle Monty, tragically young. Monty was full of life, lighting fast, and jet black, making it really hard to get a good picture of him. When he passed, the pictures I had did not do him justice. So I made a promise then, to my other and future dogs that I would never fail them again. Along the way I started a Facebook group, Dogs of Marymoor Park where I have documented thousands of dogs at our local park in Redmond, Washington. Giving others that perfect photo of their dog that I wished I had of Monty.
My teaching style couples my engineering focus and my passion for Dog Photography. I want you to really understand cameras and photography. I break things down, giving you a foundation to continue building on while not getting lost in technical jargon. I want you to be able to go into any photography situation and understand the how and why needed to capture what you envision. Not just give you some random settings that may work. My goal is for you to capture that perfect photo, whether it’s of your pet, a family member, a travel memory or whatever your passion might be.
Although the basics of photography apply to all different camera makes and models, I do specialize in Nikon D and Z models of removable lens cameras. That way we can be more specific when it comes to how to do something on a particular model of camera. And I cut through all the misinformation that you’re likely confused about from various Facebook groups, chat rooms, and corners of the internet.

If you are serious on NIkon specific photography Bob is a plethora of correct information in a sea of incorrect information. His enthusiasm for students to improve their photography skills is genuine. He has been the best resource in my Nikon Photography learning journey!

Bob is clear, precise, and doesn't bog you down with technical jargon. I love his analogies to help absolute beginners understand fundamental concepts and his knowledge of Nikon DSLR and Mirrorless cameras is unlimited. My skills have gone to the next level thanks to Bob's teaching.
Michael Augugliaro - Kansas City, Missouri
I chose photography as a new hobby in retirement and promptly discovered my shiny new entry level dslr required a bigger learning curve than I thought. When I discovered help from Bob Scola, I felt like I'd won the lottery. His videos taught me many of the basics and helped me progress. Bob is a patient teacher who understands the Nikon world inside and out and can explain it to even the newest photographer.
Jill Hassedt Belleville, Illinois
The way Bob deciphers technical jargon and teaches it to his students is an undeniable talent. Thank you!
